DJ Taylor was born in Houma La, but moved to Montgomery in the late 80’s with his family. After completing school DJ went on to complete the curriculum at NAO, The National Academy of Opticianry, passing both his boards and licensing. During this time DJ worked with The Institute for Total Eye Care in Montgomery. He later went on to be the one of the youngest territory managers for eyewear designers Liz Claiborne, Polo Ralph Lauren, and Giorgio Armani.

In 2008 DJ went back to patient care and began working with Montgomery Eye Physicians Sturbridge. He overhauled the optical department and earned certifications in both ophthalmic assisting and scribing. DJ was then promoted and became the LASIK surgery coordinator and worked with patients and doctors to manage and grow the MEP LASIK surgery program.

In 2015 DJ accepted a position with Dr. Bryan Holman at what was Millbrook Eyecare. DJ and Dr. Holman quickly began making changes and rebranding the office to River Region Vision Source.

DJ is currently the Practice Administrator for River Region Vision Source in Millbrook and Greenville. His background in business development and 23 years of experience in the eye care field have helped him to bring the best eye care solutions to our area. DJ also works as a practice management consultant with other eye care facilities in Central and South Alabama. DJ has a passion for team development and helping businesses grow and prosper.

DJ is the current President of The Millbrook Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Previously DJ was the Chair of the Ambassador program with MACC as well as an ambassador with the Prattville Chamber of Commerce and is the current Past President of the Historic South Hull District Association. In his free time DJ enjoys traveling with his husband Trey and son Aiden and relaxing by the pool with friends and family.

Marjorie Lynn Bowden is a 35-year retired DoD Civilian. She is the owner of M-L-B Enterprises that offer End-of-Life Doula, Biblical Counselor and Life Coach services focusing on caregiving, death planning, and support to grievers. She is an instructor with The Whole Self Ministries Institute of Caregiving, Grief, and Transition. Marjorie is an author with an MPA and Doctorate of Biblical Studies and is the President of the nonprofit organization, Alpha Love 2 Life. She currently serves on the boards of Pink and Pearls for Girls and All Collaborating to Serve-Community Development Corporation.  She has three sons and five grandchildren.

Steve Mullis started his Insurance Career in 2002. He started working for Liveoak Insurance Agency in 2020 and he specializes in Insurance for the Construction Industry. He is the President of the Montgomery Independent Insurance Agents Association and is also very active with the Alabama Home Builders Association serving on the local and state levels. He is a faithful member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church in Holtville and also resides in Holtville. Steve is married to Cindy Mullis who is also in the Insurance Industry and has 4 Children and 2 Grandchildren.

Penny has a Masters of Science in Justice and Public Safety.  She and her husband, Jimmy Sutherland started Advance Appraisal Services in 1998, moving the business to Millbrook in 2003.  Even still, Penny worked in the legal field until 2007 before moving to AAS full time.  She became a certified residential real property appraiser in 2009.  Penny is a member of Coosada Baptist Church, Millbrook Civitan Club, and the Millbrook Revelers. She currently serves on the boards of the Millbrook Planning Commission, the Board of Zoning Adjustments and Butterfly Bridge Child Advocacy Center.

I was born and raised in Selma, Al. My family moved to Millbrook 11 years ago. My husband Troy and I have three sons ages 26, 22 and 13. I quickly became involved in the community as soon as we moved here. I am the Business Development Manager for Rehab Associates physical therapy. I love that my job allows and encourages me to participate in community events. I have formed many new relationships while being on the Board of Directors. I am excited for the future of Millbrook and the direction it is headed in. It is a pleasure to serve this wonderful community.

Cindy Browder came to CAEC 20 years ago with a purpose of helping people. Not having any idea of what a Cooperative really consisted of yet, understanding the value of serving people. She has held positions in the following areas: Customer service representative and currently as an Energy Services representative in the member services department. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resource Management, Troy University and has currently become a realtor.  While establishing herself as a service-oriented person, Cindy serves on several boards

(GMHBA and MAAR). Over the years, her desire to serve has been such an intricate part of her life that she has taken several Mission trips to South Korea, Kenya and Ghana Africa to fulfill that purpose of serving others.  She is a wife and a mother of four children and two grandchildren. In her free time, she enjoys reading, motivational speaking and leading women’s empowerment ministries and meeting new people.

He has lived in Elmore County for over 31 years. Currently he is a member of The Montgomery Kiwanis Club but has been honored to serve on several boards including the Montgomery Kiwanis Club, the Alabama National Fair and the Joe Sewell Memorial Award.

Ann is the Economic Development Director for the City of Millbrook. Prior to her job with the City, she worked with the Alabama Wildlife Federation.  Ann’s favorite part of her job is building relationships that will help advance the City’s economic growth.  Ann is an Auburn University graduate.  She is a member of the Economic Development Association of Alabama and serves on the Boards of the Elmore County Economic Development Authority and the Montgomery Area Mental Health Authority.

He is the Service Manager for Garner Electric in Millbrook and has been with the company for 20 years. He and his wife, Staci, have been married for 13 years and have three beautiful daughters who all attend Millbrook Schools.

Letitia Ruffin-Johnson (RJ), is the 5th and 6th grade Assistant Principal at Millbrook Middle School. She has just completed her seventh year in the Elmore County School System, and her twenty-sixth year in education. She taught six years in Perry County and Selma City before moving to Georgia where she taught for twelve years before returning to Alabama in 2015.

RJ is from Birmingham, Alabama, where she graduated from Wenonah High School. She is also a graduate of Alabama State University where she received her bachelor’s and master’s degree in Language Arts Education. She taught high school English for twenty-one years before going into administration and obtained her Ed.S. in Curriculum and Instruction from Nova Southeastern University.

RJ is married to Charles Johnson, Jr. They have two awesome sons, Charles “Tripp” Johnson, III who is going to be a junior at Stanhope Elmore High School, and Courtland Johnson who will be a fifth grader at Millbrook Middle School. She is deeply dedicated to her family and their well-being.

RJ is also devoted to the students in Millbrook. She has worked hard and will continue to work diligently to ensure that students in the Millbrook community get the education they deserve. This, in turn, will continue to help Millbrook grow and prosper.

Harvey has loved living in Millbrook since September 2018.  He and his wife of 29 years, Amanda, have been Elmore county residents since 2012.  He is an owner and president of Publications Plus, Inc.  PPI is a leading printing and marketing company in the river region.

Harvey is a member of Coosada Baptist Church where he leads a small group class on Sundays.  He also serves as a deacon and has been deacon chairman previously.  He is the Director of Central Alabama Fishers of Men division and is their Program Director for the national office.  FOM seeks to share Christ through fishing tournaments.  Harvey enjoys fishing and traveling out of the country on mission trips.  He also serves on the Board of Directors of the Printing Industry Association of the South, the Baptist Foundation of Alabama and Well Worn Paths ministry.

Jamal Thomas is the Publisher and CEO of Gumptown Magazine, a local urban business directory based in Montgomery, AL. Launched in 2011, Gumptown Magazine helps market small and minority owned businesses and provides the latest in grassroots community news. Jamal earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Alabama State University in 2007 and a M.B.A. from South University in 2009. A native of Cleveland, OH, Jamal is a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Montgomery Capital Rotary club, and a graduate Leadership Montgomery Class XXXIII.
